Preble County Chiropractic Gives Back

As part of our community care outreach, we provide food and emergency financial assistance for shelter, utilities and medications to individuals in need in Preble County, Ohio. All year long, we are blessed with donations from individuals and companies based in the community who want to help their neighbors in need. At the end of 2017, the Preble County Chiropractic Nutrition & Sports Injury Center collected donations for local charities and contributed a nice financial gift to our food pantry. The week before Christmas, the owners of the chiropractic practice invited Tammy Todd-Izor and Jenny McCarty, manager of our emergency assistance programs, to accept a donation. The photo was featured in the Preble County Register Herald.

During 2017, Graceworks Lutheran Services ended its sponsorship of the Senior Companion Program. Graceworks was a proud sponsor of the Senior Companion Program for more than 18 years. During those years, Graceworks paired friendly visitors with area seniors in need of companionship; strengthening our bonds with the community and enriching our mission. Graceworks relinquished its sponsorship of the Senior Companion Program and facilitated its sponsorship to Family and Community Services, Inc. Thirty-one volunteers provided 17,200 hours of service to 80 clients during 2017. Senior Companion staff and volunteers participated in the Martin Luther King Day of Service by donating canned goods and non-perishable items to the Dayton Food Bank.  Lora Davenport, Community Relations Manager for The Dayton Food Bank, accepted the donations.

Pastor Larry Hofsis Retires

Pastor Larry Hoffsis retired as Mission Integration Consultant for Graceworks Lutheran Services at the end of 2017. Larry worked with Graceworks for 15 years. In this role, he spent half his time supporting pastoral care services at Bethany Village and the other half interpreting Graceworks Mission and Values, and facilitating relationships with congregations and other expressions of the church. Pastor Larry focused his ministry and research on church growth, worship and music, global mission, and social ministry. He enjoyed his time at Graceworks, especially those moments with staff members using scripture to explore their daily work with devotional topics like “Jesus’ Practice of Recruiting and Retaining His Workforce.” He has been a pastor for 53 years.
